Liberation Party at Canary Wharf!

Assalamualaikum...

last weekend was well spent with the celebration of Liberation Party with my classmate, my bestie and few of my bestie UCL lab-mate...however, last minute, only me, my bestie, Nasima and Kankou were available to celebrate it together...^_^

since we had a crepe party at Kankou place last time, so this time we held it at Nasima's place at Canary Wharf  >.< the plan was to meet at Nasima's house around 1pm on Friday and we go and buy all the ingredients for the party together...but since me and my bestie were busy moving out from our house, so we came very late that day around 9.30pm...by the time we reached there, they already cook grilled chicken, salad, red lentil soup and baked potato...nyummss~~ hehe...

then after finish eating, Nasima bake a Victorian Sponge Cake! :D

in the making!

nice!!~

while enjoying it, we chit chatting until midnight and went to sleep...

the next day, she baked something else...a Chocolate Chip Giant Cookie with special dedication on the cookie :D

Liberation Party!

based on Kankou said, Liberation means freedom but it is the word that stronger than freedom...so we called it as Liberation as we have finish with our master! yeay! =_='

then we had dinner at a restaurant near her house for lunch...

I will for sure miss them so much...Nasima and Kankou is like mouse and cat...they cant meet each other...everytime they meet its like a must for them to quarrel on every single thing and usually Kankou will come out a point first and end up Nasima doesnt want to succumb and she will eventually pick a point for Kankou...thats how it is throughout the day...lolz! haha...but everytime they quarrel, its very entertaining for me...kah3! oh gosh guys, hope to meet you again! muah~

anyhow, Nasima is going to Switzerland for her PhD around next year and Kankou is going to find a job in UK...and they said we are going to held another party when everyone is free...im waiting for it! hehe...and this time Kankou wants to cook crab! melting~~ :)

Bye~^_^v

Recipe: Kari Ayam London (London Chicken Curry)

Assalamualaikum...

since Ramadhan starts on 29th June the other day, I didn't cook at all since I break my fast in Malaysia Hall everyday...but yesterday I receive an invitation from a friend to have potluck for iftar (break fast) today at her house in Griffon Studios at Clapham Junction (my bestie neighbour actually) ^_^'

the menu is Tomato Rice with Ayam Masak Merah (Red Cooked Chicken) but since there is no sauce because Ayam Masak Merah is quite dry, so she asks me to cook curry chicken...and since I mix Pakistan and I think I told her that my mom's chicken curry is the best in the world, so she thinks that I can cook exactly like my mom....oh my!!! its not true...but lets have a try...oh btw this is the 2nd time I cook curry chicken...but this time is more ummmppphhhhh!!!~ delicious..for me la! hehe ^_^v

I cook it yesterday night right after I break my fast at Malaysia Hall...at 11.30pm ok! -_-''
since my labwork schedule is unpredictable and I am worried that I might not have ample time to cook after lab, so I cook it last night...hehe...

lets check out the preparation and the steps:

The ingredients are:

  • oil
  • chicken- 8-9 pieces
  • 2 potatoes- cut into 4
  • 1 red onion- sliced
  • 5 garlic- sliced
  • 1 stalk of curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp of tamarind paste
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 inch ginger
  • 1 small box of coconut milk
  • 5 full spoons of Baba's Curry Powder
  • Cinnamon (not in the picture, forgot to snap)
  • Water
  • Salt
  • 1 pinch of coarse sugar
for the curry powder actually you can use any brand...but since I am so used to that brand since in Malaysia, so I cant bear to change it...lolz...hehe...wonder how it looks like?

in London, there are few Oriental shops that you can find all these spices...usually I bought these Malaysia spices in Oriental Cost Cutter at Queensway...take Central line and hop off at Queensway station and exit the station...the shop is exactly infront of the station a bit to the left side :D

the steps are,

1) Slice the onions, ginger, garlic and chilli. Cut small the potato. While cutting these, in a wok/ deep pan, put oil enough for these ingredients to fry

2) When the oil is hot enough, put all the above ingredients together with cinnamon, tamarind paste and star anise. Cook until it turn to yellowish colour.

3) Then add curry powder and quickly stir it and then put 1 cup of water. Cook it on a low heat and keep stirring it until the oil surfaces the paste.

4) Then add potato and curry leaves and stir it. And then put chicken and stir it.

5) Cook the chicken until its half cooked and add some water to let it boiled up.

6) Then add coconut milk and cook on a low heat until the potato is soft enough. When the potato is soft enough, add salt, sugar and water. The water is optional as it depends on how thick you want your curry is. Let it cook a while.

Thats it! ^_^

usually I like if my curry is thick and not so watery...since all the ingredients are from London (except the tamarind paste), hence the name given is London Chicken Curry \(^_^)/V

actually this recipe I took it from Azie Kitchen recipe blog which I modify a bit since I am so lazy to buy cardamom and I add chilli to make it extra spicy coz I cant find extra hot babas curry powder at the Oriental Shop...although my curry lacks those spices, the taste is still ummpphhhh~~ hehe...

okay guys, have a try and let me know if it works ya!

Bye~ ^_^v

p/s: hope my curry is not too thick for them...huhu...and hope I can get positive feedback which I will surely repeat this recipe...eheheh...my moms recipe? its a family secret...ngeh...ngeh... :p

Fried Ice cream! nyummsss~~ ^^,

Assalamualaikum...

the first time I ever taste fried ice cream when I was in Kuantan 2 years back at night market...sounds so pity rite??? haha
thats my bestie first expression as well when I told her that I have never taste it when I was a kid
-_-' I love it so much the first time I try it...and so I knew that its easy actually to prepare it yourself...you just need soft white bread and ice cream of your own flavour! thats it...

eventhough its easy, people who knew me back then know that I am a person who never cook at home...hahaha...but now since I am in UK all alone, so I have turn to a new leaf person with the capability to cook all types of Malaysian cuisine...erk? eh! ^_^v ok, maybe some~~haha

so today when I browse thru my fb, I saw this one post posted by my superior when I joined SUKMA (its a type of sports events) in Malaysia...so all the photos credited to him, En. Eddika Putra ^_^v
oh btw I have ask his permission to share it in my blog...weee~~ tq2!

The steps:

1. Find any bottles that have round shape, and pat the bottle on the 2 white soft breads to get the round shape

2. On one of the white bread, scoop ice cream that you want and put it onto the bread inside the round shape

3. Then take the other white bread and put it on top of the bread with the ice cream

4. Using the same bottle to make the round shape just now, pat it again on the bread (2 slices of bread) to cut it off from the square bread shape

5. Remove it from the excess bread

6. Pinch the edges of the bread to seal it

7. Tada!!!

8. Put it in the refrigerator to freeze the ice cream. Once its freeze enough, take it out, fry it in hot oil just for a few seconds...and you are ready to eat it! ^_^v

I have never try it yet thats why there is no 'after' photo...kih3! ^^,
eventhough I have the recipe with me now, its hard to find cheap ice cream here in London...most of the time if I bought one, I rather enjoying it just like that...so not a good time yet to implement this recipe! huhu...the other problem was that my refrigerator is wayyyy toooo small as well to insert extra items inside...-_-"

see...I told you my fridge is small especially my freezer...such a cute space that I can only put 1 baby chicken (chopped), french fries and my frozen foods such as chicken burger patty and an ice cream ^_^v

oh btw, the extra bread please please don't throw it away...you guys can recycle it...erk? :p
yes................you can make bread pudding which also very simple and delicious! try it! :D

hope once I'm back to Malaysia, I can DIY! hehe~~ :D

Bye~ ^_^v

p/s: think should try it one day...erm~~~
