Recipe: Kari Ayam London (London Chicken Curry)
Assalamualaikum...
since Ramadhan starts on 29th June the other day, I didn't cook at all since I break my fast in Malaysia Hall everyday...but yesterday I receive an invitation from a friend to have potluck for iftar (break fast) today at her house in Griffon Studios at Clapham Junction (my bestie neighbour actually) ^_^'
the menu is Tomato Rice with Ayam Masak Merah (Red Cooked Chicken) but since there is no sauce because Ayam Masak Merah is quite dry, so she asks me to cook curry chicken...and since I mix Pakistan and I think I told her that my mom's chicken curry is the best in the world, so she thinks that I can cook exactly like my mom....oh my!!! its not true...but lets have a try...oh btw this is the 2nd time I cook curry chicken...but this time is more ummmppphhhhh!!!~ delicious..for me la! hehe ^_^v
I cook it yesterday night right after I break my fast at Malaysia Hall...at 11.30pm ok! -_-''
since my labwork schedule is unpredictable and I am worried that I might not have ample time to cook after lab, so I cook it last night...hehe...
lets check out the preparation and the steps:
The ingredients are:
- oil
- chicken- 8-9 pieces
- 2 potatoes- cut into 4
- 1 red onion- sliced
- 5 garlic- sliced
- 1 stalk of curry leaves
- 1 tbsp of tamarind paste
- 2 star anise
- 2 inch ginger
- 1 small box of coconut milk
- 5 full spoons of Baba's Curry Powder
- Cinnamon (not in the picture, forgot to snap)
- Water
- Salt
- 1 pinch of coarse sugar
for the curry powder actually you can use any brand...but since I am so used to that brand since in Malaysia, so I cant bear to change it...lolz...hehe...wonder how it looks like?
in London, there are few Oriental shops that you can find all these spices...usually I bought these Malaysia spices in Oriental Cost Cutter at Queensway...take Central line and hop off at Queensway station and exit the station...the shop is exactly infront of the station a bit to the left side :D
the steps are,
1) Slice the onions, ginger, garlic and chilli. Cut small the potato. While cutting these, in a wok/ deep pan, put oil enough for these ingredients to fry
2) When the oil is hot enough, put all the above ingredients together with cinnamon, tamarind paste and star anise. Cook until it turn to yellowish colour.
3) Then add curry powder and quickly stir it and then put 1 cup of water. Cook it on a low heat and keep stirring it until the oil surfaces the paste.
4) Then add potato and curry leaves and stir it. And then put chicken and stir it.
5) Cook the chicken until its half cooked and add some water to let it boiled up.
6) Then add coconut milk and cook on a low heat until the potato is soft enough. When the potato is soft enough, add salt, sugar and water. The water is optional as it depends on how thick you want your curry is. Let it cook a while.
Thats it! ^_^
usually I like if my curry is thick and not so watery...since all the ingredients are from London (except the tamarind paste), hence the name given is London Chicken Curry \(^_^)/V
actually this recipe I took it from Azie Kitchen recipe blog which I modify a bit since I am so lazy to buy cardamom and I add chilli to make it extra spicy coz I cant find extra hot babas curry powder at the Oriental Shop...although my curry lacks those spices, the taste is still ummpphhhh~~ hehe...
okay guys, have a try and let me know if it works ya!
Bye~ ^_^v
p/s: hope my curry is not too thick for them...huhu...and hope I can get positive feedback which I will surely repeat this recipe...eheheh...my moms recipe? its a family secret...ngeh...ngeh... :p

Iftar at Penang Restaurant, Westfield
Assalamualaikum...
First Ramadhan in London fall on the 29th of July (Sunday) the same date as in Malaysia...before that, London Central Mosque predicts that it will fall on the 28th, but eventually it falls on Sunday...and so that begins First Ramadhan in London ^_^v
from the beginning of Ramadhan I had my iftar (break fast) at Malaysian Hall...FREE FOOD yo!! wee~~ since its free and I knew it all along even before Ramadhan, I had plan it from the beginning that I will not cook during Ramadhan instead I will just go to Malaysian Hall everyday straight from the lab...gagaga...
It just took me around 30 minutes from my house to Malaysian Hall...I took Central Line from White City to Queensway and walk 5 minutes toward MARA building...but thats not the story here...will story mory that later k... *_*v
last Sunday was a cheat day for me and my bestie so we had our first iftar outside at Penang Restaurant situated at Westfield Shopping Centre, White City...I dont remember if I told you guys before that my house is just 15 minutes away from one of the largest shopping centre in London ie Westfield White City since Westfield has another complex at Stratford...
we had plan to try that restaurant since we saw it on the first day but we delay it until I saw the advertisement infront of the restaurant on my way to my bestie house...I need to catch Overground train at Shepherds Bush to go to her house which the shortcut to the route is cut thru Westfield Shopping Centre...and thats when I saw the advertisement and I plan it a week ahead to iftar there...
the decoration inside of the restaurant was so simple...they hang the "tanglong" as you can see on the ceiling and a picture of the owner of the restaurant, Mr. Zuhri on the wall :D im so lazy to snap the pix...hehe
lets check out what we order~~~
ranges of dishes were offered in the menu list...
this was mine... :D
Jasmine Rice with Ayam percik...nyummmsss~~
this was my bestie's...Nasi Goreng Belacan
as for drinks, both of us ordered Bananarama...nice! like it!
a dessert is a must in any menu :D hihi
we ordered Goreng Pisang with Ice Cream...the ice cream is homemade and the taste is not bad at all ^_^v
overall we were satisfied with the food although my bestie's Nasi Goreng Belacan was quiet dry...mine was incredible! cant resist to east the "kuah" just like that when I'm out of rice...nge~~
Pisang Goreng was nice though although the banana was quiet flaccid...
since its Ramadhan and we scared that the restaurant will be occupied, so I call the restaurant to reserve 2 seats...we arrive around 8.35pm and order straight away...the food were on the table around 8.45pm...break fast that day was at 9.16pm...while waiting for the time, I realised that the staffs already started to clean up everything...then I realised that actually they closed at 10pm...wakaka...no wonder the staffs keep looking at us since we didnt eat eventhough the foods were already on the table...oh btw forgot to mentioned that the staffs are all locals!
Alhamdulillah we manage to finish everything by 9.40pm! super fast right? :p
recommended to those who wana try Malaysian dishes in London...worth every penny :D

Cool New Gadget - Daisypath :D
Assalamualaikum...
The other day when I am blog walking, I saw this one blog introduce me to a cool gadget together with the tutorial where I can find the gadget and how to insert that into blog...yeay!
I dont know how many people knew about this gadget but I just simply like it... ^.^v
DAISYPATH GADGET
so this tutorial will teach you step by step where to find this cool gadget and how to insert it into your blog together with extra tutorial how to centered the gadget in the blog...I like it in the centered so I will teach you guys how...enjoy!~ ^_^
(click on the pictures to get a larger view)
WHERE TO GET IT?
1. You can find the gadget here >>> Daisypath
2. Then choose which one you want
3. I choose Travel and Vacation because I want to countdown how long have I been in UK...ngee~~
4. Then choose your preferable ticker. If you want to put on your side bar, you can use on the left coz its a mini ticker. If you want to put in the middle of the blog for example at the footer, then choose on the left. Click NEXT
5. Choose your favorable scene. Click NEXT
6. Choose your slider. Click NEXT
7. Choose which details you want. Click SELECT
8. Then fill in your details (red box and circle). Click NEXT
9. And then they will provide you with the HTML code of the ticker. I have tried clicking the Blogger options but what happen is that you cant centered the ticker once you put it in the blog. If choose not to centered it, just click on blogger and they will teach you how to put the ticker in your blog by using the URL that they provide. Since I want it to be in the center at the footer, so I go for the HTML.
10. Copy the code as I highlighted in the red box above and follow the instructions as below. The instruction I got it from the Daisypath web.
11. You are done! yeay~
If you want to put the gadget at the sidebar, you probably dont need the above instructions...its more suitable if you put the gadget at the footer...you can see mine at the footer...I like it though...haha...now I dont need to keep counting it...Diasypath will do that for me... ^_^v
Happy blogging!
