IIUM 30th Convocation & Collect Bachelor Scroll

Assalamualaikum...

I was an IIUM graduate from Biomedical Science last year in January 2013...however, I couldn't attend my convocation in November last year since I was in London continuing my master at Imperial College London...

this year, the convocation was held in October and yesterday was the 3rd day of the ceremony...I was running my errands for my PhD stuffs at KPJ Tawakkal...so while waiting for my medical check-up report to be completed by KPJ Tawakkal, me and my bestie went to IIUM to collect our scroll and to inquiry whether we can rent the robe to take a photo at the studio with our la familia~

Alhamdulillah we manage to get a very nice parking spot behind the mosque area...when we arrived, we headed to Student Affairs office at the Admin building however they direct us to go to the Admission and Record office (AMAD) to collect our scroll...and so we went there...after waiting for a while, we manage to get our scroll~ ^_^v

then suddenly I realise that they didn't give us together with the hard bound file that we suppose to get with the scroll...after inquiry them, they ask us to go to the Robe Room (RR) at CAC to get confirmation from the RR people that we didn't attend our convocation last year! I was so frustated because they are the Admission & Record people and they should knew their student whereabouts since they are the registry keeper! but I still follow their instructions and we went there...upon arrival, the people at the RR ask us to go AMAD since they doesn't know anything about that! argh~ luckily, one of the staff feels that it is unnecessary for them to give the confirmation just for a file, so she go and get 2 files for me and my bestie....TQ sis!! >.<'

yeay! finally~ now I'm just waiting to rent the robe and take a studio picture with la familia~...hehe

since I can only rent the robe for 1 week with the cost of RM410 (as a deposit), so I decided not to borrow the robe now, instead I will borrow after my family have decided a date that we can gather everyone as it's quite difficult to gather everyone in one shot...haha...

while on our way from CAC to AMAD, then AMAD to CAC, we took pictures of the convocation scenery at CAC~

congratz to all sisters & brothers for your achievements throughout your UG & PG! :D

this picture makes me miss UIA more~ -_-"

[Part 1] Step by Step Studying Abroad - Scholarship/Funding & Apply University

Assalamualaikum...

since I am currently studying abroad and I did joined a few groups in FB which discusses about what to do if you want to study abroad, and quite a few of them personally added me in FB when I commented on their posts, so I came about to make a special entry of how to apply to study abroad (mostly concentrated in UK) from A-Z

since its toooo long and I am so not interested to read a long post (neither do other people I think), so I break it up into a few sections...easier right??

searching for funding and appling to a university should be done in parallel...because to apply for a scholarship you need to present to them either conditional letter or unconditional letter...the first topic:

SCHOLARSHIP / FUNDING

to study abroad you need someone to fund you right? its either corporate company, private company or government scholarship...totally depends on PA&MA is quite hard especially if you further your study in UK...fuuhh~~ -_-"

so here I will give you a few links and few choices that you can look up for...

1. MARA

MARA sponsors abroad study under the LOAN called PASCASISWAZAH...this skim opens every year around end of February to March...you need to be alert and ALWAYS check their announcement at their official website...the application for that loan alwayz open for 2 weeks and so...so make sure you don't miss it...if you miss it, you need to wait for another year...once you apply for that thru online, then you need to wait until they release names of the candidates who make it to another stage of their application which is psychometric test and if you succeed, then you will proceed to another stage which is interview...BUT MARA recently has changed their path of conducting this skim...you can check my previous post regarding this...

if you want to know about the pointer and the rest, click this link...it has never change over the year if I'm not mistaken...since this is a loan and you are not bonded to MARA, so you need to pay back to MARA...but not to worry because they have deduction based on your result...so study hard! (reminder to myself as well~~) hehe

since I am under MARA for the year of 2013, there is no interview...right after psychometric test, they release the name for those who made it...sadly to say I didn't made it (made it finally after appeal) because of my chosen university...why?? because MARA requirements is that you need to find top 100 rank university...haa....that one I will explain in detail in the next part...basically once you succeed, you will get MARA agreement once you submit all the documents needed and it will be stated in the offer letter... =D

2. JPA

as far as I'm concern JPA only sponsor students who was bonded to them from undergraduate (UG) and get >3.5 pointer during UG...so if you are JPA scholar during UG and get pointer >3.5, do apply for JPA scholarship abroad for PG...check up regularly at their website as well...the skim is called SKIM PELAJAR CEMERLANG...the keywords is that update with their website...I have never seen myself of that skim because I have never look for it...

3. Private / corporate Company

if you are going to further your study in non-science based courses, don't restrict your choices on MARA only...because there are many corporate companies and private companies do offer scholarship for those students who wants to further study in Business, Accounting and many more...I suggest if you guys are looking for scholarship list, go to this and this ...these are the best website for those looking for scholarship...

APPLYING UNIVERSITY

as I said before, you need to start applying for university in parallel while you are searching for scholarship...so that it will be easier as you can present your conditional offer/unconditional offer from the university to the scholar that you are applying for...

since I only had an experience applying to university in the UK only, therefore I have made a special entry on how to apply to UK university here...that particular post is only an example on how to apply to Imperial College London only...however, the same concept or steps apply to most of the university in UK...

if you specifically applying for PASCASISWAZAH MARA, then you need to apply the top 100 university in the world based on the lists that is given by MARA here

2014

2013

however, bear in mind that MARA guidelines on which university that they accept changes over the year as shown in above pictures...so do keep track on the changes...when I was applying last year, I was not accepted since I chose Kent University where the ranking of the university was not in top 50, so therefore I change to Imperial College London which at that time was at 6th based on the Times Higher Education ranking and then MARA accepted my appeal...Alhamdulillah, right after I finish my master, Imperial College London went up to 2nd place based on QS World Ranking University

...................................................................................................................................................................

will stop here...wait for my PART II as I will discuss on Medical Check-up & IELTS

How to apply to Imperial College London

Assalamualaikum...

I do received a lot of questions pertaining to studying abroad...most of the questions is regarding sponsorship and there are some of them whom personally ask me how to apply to universities in the UK...

so here, I would like to share how to apply to Imperial College London as I am applying it again for the second time and because the same steps apply to all universities in the UK...all application is thru online ONLY and NO fees charge on online application (although some university does charge you for online application such as Oxford University)...to know which university charge you for online application, read the guide / note on the web of that particular university...

1. Go to Imperial College London website

either you are looking for undergraduate or postgraduate courses that are available in the university, go to the study at imperial link at the bottom of the page...the same concept apply to other university as well but maybe with different heading...

2. Find your desired course

find the course that suits you...read all the requirements, the details of the course and every details that is written under that particular course...satisfied, then proceed to the most important step...

3. Apply online

once you have decided on the course, click How to Apply link on top of the course page and it will direct you to the registry page...click on the link shown in red arrow

4. Embark Application

here, using the drop down menu at the bottom of the page, choose the area that best suits you depending on your course...

5. Create an account

to apply online, you need an account under Imperial College London

6. Registration

fill in all the requirements needed in that page and choose the program that you want to apply ie; undergraduate, postgraduate, etc

7. Fill-in the online application form

fill every single thing in the form...if you are not sure any aspects of the form sections, email to them and ask for clarification...

8. Submit your application

once you have completed all the forms from step 1 - step 4, an application inspector will review your form if you miss to fill-in any information in any area from the above steps...if does, it will be stated and it will direct you to the intended page...

if there is none, SUBMIT your application!

9. Confirmation

your form is successfully submitted!

10. Confirmation email

lastly, they will send you a confirmation email stating that they have received your application...you just need to wait and keep track your application on the Embark Application link as stated in your email and also any means of communication from them to you in your email...

.............................................................................................................................................................

the application might be different for PhD level whereby you need to contact your potential supervisor first and then if he/she agrees to take you as their student, they usually will direct you on how and where to apply thru online...but if you are a master student, then you need to do all this by yourself...its very easy anyway ^_^ just follow the above steps!

hope this entry would be beneficial for those intending to apply to Imperial College London...if you need any help or you need a special entry on how to approach your potential supervisor for PhD, do leave a comment ya.

Sending off my niece to MRSM Pekan, Pahang

Assalamualaikum...

Hope its not too late for me to wish all my readers EID AL-ADHA! ^_^v

so I'm back to Malaysia on 4th of October around 9am at KLIA...my flight was at 12pm on 3rd October from Heathrow airport...but since it will be hard for Kak Haida's husband to send us off at the airport around 8am, so he sends us off around 5am in the morning so that he wont have to face off traffic jam on his way back...tq so much kak Haida and Abang Zul for the hospitality during our stay at your house! muchas gracias! ^_^v

so I sat at the airport for almost 6 hours before boarding...stated in the boarding pass that we can board around 11am, but a bit delayed happen there where we can only board the plane around 11.30am...

happy to see all my family member faces! almost a year I didn't met them...miss them like crazy! tq for coming!~ =_="

once arrived at the airport, the first place that I ask my family to bring me was to 'mamak' stall for 'roti canai'!!! haha...and the next day was Eid Al-Adha but since I was having very bad fever, flu and cough plus with jetlag, so I was asleep the whole day...wuwu~ its ok as long as I am beside them :D

the next day, my niece is going back to her boarding school at MRSM Tun Abdul Razak, Pekan, Pahang...since I have never been to her boarding school, so she insists me to follow her and send her off...I'm happy to follow ^_^v

we reached Kuantan around 1.30pm with the aim to go hunt for lunch as well as necessary things for my niece at Cowboy...but almost all stalls in Kuantan were closed...then it hits me that its Eid day, no wonder its closed! sigh~ so end up we found 1 restaurant at ECM, D O'asis Restaurant that was open and we had our lunch there...then since ECM is closer to Eng Hong than Cowboy, so we bought the things that my niece wants at Eng Hong...

I was a boarding school product as well but not MRSM instead I am a SBP product...she was so anxious to show me her room and wants me to compare hers to mine before...I admit that hers was nicer than mine...I used to share the dorm with 20 other students but hers only consists of 8 people in the same room...they have their own bed and mine was double-deck bed back then...they even have study table in their own room whilst I need to go to a special study room at level 1 or just go and study at the classroom...I can say that my niece is so lucky for being accepted in that school...study rajin2!! ^_^'

she showed me that boys dorm is just infront of their building and sometimes they saw that the boys were hiding behind the curtain and watching them...haha...its normal though in a co-ex school like this...naughty boys!!

infront of the other side of the girl dorm buildings, there situated the teachers houses...its quite big I can say...this is where we stop and send my niece off...so the brighter side is the teachers can monitor the students and the parents as well...hahahahaha...lolz!

around 5pm, we went back to KL...yes, the far right is my sister and the other 2 are my niece and my nephew...suppose my another niece is in the picture but accident happens where she wets her clothes so she was in the car by the time my brother-in-law capture this picture...I guess this is the first time I include my family photos in my blog...more are coming into this blog as I am in my 2 months break in Malaysia...hehehe >.<

to my niece, Aina, study hard ok! we will see you again this Deepavali break and more school breaks are coming...on top of that, your school holiday is just around the corner...I will see you till then ya! miss you la!

thanks that she was sitting in this pix! coz she is the same height as me at her age now...oh I feel so petite beside her...some people thought that I am her sister...that is for sure a compliment for me...ahakks! >.<

till then~

Bye~^_^v

p/s: still having flu and cough...worsen with hearing-block on one side of my ear...wuwu~

Alhamdulillah...my Master result is out!

Assalamualaikum...

as previously mentioned that I have just finish my master so I was wondering when can I get the result...and on 2nd of October, last Thursday, I saw one of my classmates posted her status on her master result in FB...I didn't realised that coz I don't usually open my Imperial email...huhu -_-"

I told my bestie about that and she is the one that's so anxious to know the result and pass me her laptop after she has check hers'...

Alhamdulillah...with His grace, I have passed my master! ^_^v

now looking forward in my next step which is my PhD in the same university with the same supervisor...

since I am now in Malaysia for a 2 months break before I start my PhD, I am busy attending all errands that are needed to be done before I went back to UK this December InsyaAllah...
